Special Characters (Mötley Crüe)
For a band like "Mötley Crüe" Yatse indexes the strange "ö" after all other characters, so for example in the music artist screen, Mötley Crüe would be AFTER MZAPPA, and since it is an odd character I can't even use the search function to find the artist. (because I can't find that strange character)
Is is possible to have things like that be recognized by their more standard character "o" in this case, so we could search for Motley Crue and have Yatse find Mötley Crüe and also organize it alphabetically by Mo... or is this too much of an issue based on other languages?
This is an Android issue :( Can only sort either by ascii to have lower case handling or by unicode by no lower case handling :(
You can toggle that in library / Expert settings.
Other way is to use Kodi sort title in Artist NFO's and check the option inside Yatse ignore articles so that it uses them.
The "Use ASCII Sorts" toggle was originally enabled, I disabled it and the sort did not change. I closed the app and removed from recents, and the sort did not change. I refreshed the library the sort did not change, and closed/cleared the app one more time (after the library update) and the sort did not change. Is the something else I need to do to see the sort change? I haven't cleared the app cache yet, was hoping that wasn't needed.
It's totally possible that your Android device does not correctly handle those, the other solution as I said is using Kodi side sort titles.
